PetPottyBreak ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") is a mobile application that helps dog owners and their packs track walks, potty breaks, and pet health. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use our App.

By using PetPottyBreak, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

This App is intended for users aged 13 and older.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Phone number — required for authentication via SMS verification
• Display name — required for identifying you within your pack
• Email address — optional, used for sending and receiving pack invitations

1.2 Dog Information

When you add a dog to the App, you may provide:

• Dog name, breed, birthday, and gotcha day
• Dog avatar and photos (stored in the cloud)

This information is shared with all members of your dog's pack.

1.3 Activity Data

When you log walks and potty breaks, we collect:

• Walk start and end times
• Walker identity (which pack member walked the dog)
• Potty event details: type (pee, poop, vomit, or accident), timestamp, health notes, and poop appearance
• Potty event photos (if taken)
• Location context category (walk or indoor) — we do not collect GPS coordinates or precise location data

1.4 Invitation Data

When you invite someone to your pack, we collect:

• Recipient email address or phone number
• Inviter name, dog name, assigned role, and invitation expiration date

1.5 Device and Technical Data

We automatically collect:

• Device identifiers — required by Google Play Services
• FCM device tokens — used to deliver push notifications to your device

1.6 Crash and Performance Data

To monitor app stability and performance, we collect:

• Crash reports and stack traces
• Device information (model, OS version, screen size)
• IP address
• Screenshots captured at the time of a crash
• Performance traces (app startup time, screen load times)

This data may include personally identifiable information associated with your device.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Authenticate your identity — verify your phone number to create and secure your account
• Provide App features — track walks, log potty breaks, manage dog profiles, and coordinate with your pack
• Deliver notifications — send push notifications about walk updates, pack invitations, and potty events
• Monitor crashes and performance — identify and fix bugs, improve app stability and speed
• Facilitate pack sharing — enable you to invite others and share dog care responsibilities

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.

3. How We Share Your Information

3.1 With Your Pack Members

By design, the following information is shared with all members of your dog's pack:

• Your display name
• Dog profiles (name, breed, birthday, photos)
• Walk and potty event logs (including who walked and event details)

This is core to how the App works — packs coordinate dog care together.

3.2 With Third-Party Service Providers

We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

These services process data on our behalf and are subject to their own privacy policies.

We do not use: Google Analytics, advertising services, social login providers, or payment processors.

3.3 For Legal Reasons

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to:

• Comply with a legal obligation
• Protect and defend our rights or property
• Prevent fraud or address security issues
• Protect the personal safety of users or the public

4. Data Storage and Security

• All app data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure through Firebase services.
• Crash and performance data is stored on Sentry's cloud infrastructure.
• All data is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted in transit).
• Firebase provides encryption at rest for data stored in Cloud Firestore and Cloud Storage.

While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Retention

• Account data (phone number, display name, email) is retained for as long as your account exists.
• Dog profiles and activity data (walks, potty events, photos) are retained for as long as the associated dog profile exists.
• Invitation data expires and is retained according to the invitation's expiration date.
• Crash and performance data is retained according to Sentry's data retention policies.

Important note: Deleting your account removes your account information. However, walk and potty event records you created are not automatically deleted when your account is deleted, as they are part of the shared pack history. To request deletion of all your data, please contact us (see Section 10).

6. Your Rights

All users have the right to:

• Access your personal data — request a copy of the information we hold about you
• Correct your personal data — update inaccurate or incomplete information through the App or by contacting us
• Delete your personal data — request deletion of your account and associated data

6.1 Additional Rights for Users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and UK

If you are located in the EEA or UK, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate personal data
• Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten") — request deletion of your personal data
• Right to restriction of processing — request that we limit how we use your data
• Right to data portability — request a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format
• Right to object — object to the processing of your personal data
• Right to withdraw consent — withdraw your consent at any time where processing is based on consent
• Right to lodge a complaint — file a complaint with your local data protection authority

Our legal basis for processing your data is:

• Contractual necessity — processing required to provide the App's features (authentication, data storage, pack sharing, notifications)
• Legitimate interest — crash monitoring and performance analysis to maintain and improve the App
• Consent — where applicable, such as optional data like email addresses

7. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our service providers (Google Cloud/Firebase and Sentry) operate data centers.

If you are located outside the United States, including in the EEA or UK, please be aware that your data will be transferred to, stored, and processed in a jurisdiction that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home country.

By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States. We rely on our service providers' compliance frameworks (such as Google's data processing terms and Sentry's privacy practices) to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.

8. Children's Privacy

PetPottyBreak is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will:

• Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
• For significant changes, notify you through the App or other appropriate means

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
